There’s some intrigue surrounding IPA’s origin. Who brewed it first? Australia? Britain? We only know for sure that we love it and that it became really famous in the 19th century when the Burton’s brewers exported it to India from Great Britain. Its large content of hops protected it from the heat during export so the British colonialists could enjoy it.

The term first appeared around 1703 for beers made from malts dried with high-carbon coke, which resulted in a lighter colour than other beers popular at that time.
